At present, there are four core faculty in IAS: Shankar Aswani, Steven Gaulin, Michael Gurven, and John Tooby. The IAS unit is currently conducting a search for a biological anthropologist, who will join the Anthropology Department in 2012 as its fifth core faculty member. There are also five affiliate members of IAS drawn from the Anthropology Department: Michael Jochim, Katharina Schreiber, Susan Stonich, Amber VanDerwarker, and Gregory Wilson, and 3 emeritus members of IAS: Donald Brown, Napoleon Chagnon, and Donald Symons.
The faculty of IAS share a strong scientific and integrative orientation, and teach and do research in ecological anthropology, human behavioral ecology, sociocultural anthropology, human biology, biological/physical anthropology, evolutionary psychology, economic anthropology, evolutionary anthropology, cognitive anthropology, hunter-gatherer studies, psychological anthropology, the anthropology and archaeology of foragers and small scale societies, biosocial anthropology, biocultural anthropology, demography, and medical anthropology.
