Recent Research in the Titicaca Basin, or How I Spent a Year in the High Andes

By Kirk Frye

This talk presents the preliminary findings from one year of field research in the Titicaca basin, Peru. Kirk will discuss his field research methods and present important research questions from the area including the Formative-Middle Horizon transition and how climatic change may have influenced the development of the Late Intermediate Period Lupaqa Kingdom. The cave burial site of Molino-Chilicachi is also discussed in its relation to changing settlement patterns and to the evolution of burial types in the region.
