UCSB Anthropology Brown Bag Lecture Series Presents:

Hell Gap: Past, Present, and Future

By Dr. Mary Lou Larson

Abstract: Originally excavated by Harvard University in the 1960s the Hell Gap archaeological site represents what is perhaps the most famous (if not one of the most significant) Paleoindian sites in North America. Although known throughout the world, very little information was published after the 1960s excavations. Starting in the 1980s, the University of Wyoming has been re-investigating the site and the collections gathered in the 1960s. My presentation will discuss the 1960s excavations and some of their results, and discuss UWs on-going investigations.

Mary Lou Larson recieved her PhD from UCSB, and is currently professor of anthropology at the University of Wyoming.
