Michael Jochim

Jochim's research, carried out in southern Germany since 1980, has focused on changes in land use and subsistence at the end of the last ice age and the beginning of the postglacial period. Fieldwork has aimed at supplementing an archaeological record dominated by cave sites with excavated open-air sites and regional surveys.

Map of southwestern Germany showing location of the Federsee, where excavations have been carried out, and of the the large survey region.
