This is the final summary of research and marine resource management activities conducted in the Roviana and Vonavona Lagoons between 2000 and 2004. The initiatives were as follows. The MacArthur and Packard Foundations funded “The Roviana and Vonavona Lagoons Marine Resource Management Project” (2000–2002) and “Establishing Marine Protected Areas and Spatio-temporal Refugia in the Roviana and Vonavona Lagoons, Solomon Islands” (2002–2004), respectively. The projects brought together scholars from various institutions and combined anthropological and marine biological research to study various maritime practices in the Roviana and Vonavona Lagoons.
