For those of you who did not participate in either of the
two initial experiments, you are required to perform the following assignment:
Assignment that
substitutes for experiment/ questionnaire
(1) go to the library, and find an article on incest avoidance, incest,
inbreeding, inbreeding avoidance, genetic load, the Westermarck effect, kin
recognition, etc.
•
it can be on either nonhumans or humans
•
you could start with any of the available on-line databases such as Psych Abstracts, BioAbstracts, Science
Citation Index, Social Science Citation Index, Medline, Medlars, etc.
•
if you need help, ask a reference librarian for help looking up an article
(2) read the paper and xerox the abstract
(3) write a 1.5 page paper
that relates the paper to the content of this course, explaining the
significance of the paper; include a xeroxed copy of the abstract with your 2
page paper
(4) the scientific article you choose should have a year of publication
that corresponds to the letter your last name starts with, as follows:

if your last name begins with a-b: 2002; c-d: 2001; e-f: 2000; g-h: 1999;
i-j: 1998; k-l: 1997; m-n: 1996; o-p: 1995; etc.
•
that is, if your last name is Aaron, pick a paper published during the
year 2002.
(5) turn in the paper and abstract to the TF in the week of the last
lecture
