The Department of Anthropology takes this opportunity to greet all of you, whether new or returning anthropology majors, to the 2005-2006 academic year. The faculty and staff hope you will have a productive and stimulating year here at UCSB
The Anthropology Student Union, the department's undergraduate anthropology major organization, came back into existence in 2001 after a long hiatus. In the last couple of years the ASU has held two successful undergraduate research conferences. Click on their website link to the left for notices of meetings and other events. ASU officers will be posting news shortly.
Keep in mind that one of the most significant assets of a university like UCSB is the opportunity to become involved in research activities. We will be posting notices of undergraduate research opportunities on this website, but if you have interest in becoming involved right now, don't hesitate to ask individual faculty members or graduate students. Keep in mind that you can even get a grant if there are costs associated with your research involvement. Click here to learn more.
The 2004-2005 school year saw the exciting reemergence of the Lambda Alpha National Collegiate Honors Society for Anthropology at UCSB. Academically distinguished Anthropology majors will be invited to join, and you may also check with the department to see if you might qualify. Please click here for information about membership requirements, benefits and exciting activities!
Again, welcome to the new academic school year!
