Archaeology

My research interests include the history of interaction between ancient Nubia and Egypt, the archaeology of alcohol consumption, and religious ritual and practice.  I am interested in the way Nubian cosmology is made manifest in the archaeological record, specifically in regard to the development of materials designed for ritual purposes.  Additionally, I am interested in the development and consumption of ancient Nubian beers, their movement across spaces, and their engagement with non-Nubian peoples through trade and social consumption.
