Food/Resource Photographs

Two highly prized, seasonal food items: chonta palm fruit and toasted isangos (flying ants). Isangos fly from their ant-hills once a year, generally at dawn, after a heavy rain. To gather the ants, Shuar will wait outside the ant hills with torches in anticipation of their flight.
As the ants exit their home they fly into the flame and fall to the ground, from where they are collected for a tastey meal.
