Chicha Photographs

Chicha is a spanish word for any variety of fermented beverage. It can
be made of manioc root (also called
yuca or cassava), corn, or fruits, among other things. Chicha is sometimes
masticated before it is allowed to
ferment. After two or three days of fermentation it can achieve an alcohol
percentage equivalent to beer.
Among Amazonians chicha is a dietary staple, as well as a work incentive
and social lubricant.
