Preparation for the Major:

- Anthropology 2 (4 units)
- Anthropology 3 or 3SS (4 or 5 units)
- Anthropology 5 (4 units)
- Anthropology 7 (4 units)
- ESS 47 Human Anatomy
- Recommended: MCDB 1A-1AL, MCDB 1B, EEMB 2 and either MCDB 1BL or EEMB 2L

Note: 12 units of acceptable upper-division courses from the Biological Sciences and Linguistics may be substituted WITH PETITION. See our list of related courses.
Major Regulations:
- P/NP GRADING OPTION. Not allowed for any major course (Prep of UD major), including courses applied to the major from other departments.
- SUBSTITUTIONS In the major requirements permissible only by petition to the department chair and dean.
- RESIDENCE REQUIREMENTS. At least 20 upper-division units in major while in residence at UCSB.
- G.P.A. REQUIREMENTS At least 2.0 overall average in a) all UD major courses; and b) all major courses (Prep and UD) while in UC.
- DOUBLE MAJORS With the approval of each department chairperson, up to a total of 8 units may be applied simultaneously to both UD majors.
