About
I am a professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara with joint appointments in the Environmental Studies Program and Department of Geography, and am affiliated with the American Indian and Indigenous Studies initiative and the Department of Anthropology. Previously I joined the faculty in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Utah, with appointments in the Archaeological Center, Environmental and Sustainability Studies Program, and Responsible Artificial Intelligence initiative. I earned a PhD and master’s degree in anthropology from Stanford University, and an interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree in anthropology, geography, and sociology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
